NOKI
UPDATE 8/12/08
I've made huge strides in the last 2 months. i love being petted and praised and I usually come running for some petting and attention whenever foster meowmy is near now and I even come when she calls me by name now. I am getting more and more comfortable with petting. I let foster meowmy pet me on my back, sides and head and scritch under my chin and sides of my neck and guess what, I have started purring for her and in the last week I have started smelling and licking her fingers and then I gently gnaw on her fingers to let her know how much I like and trust her now. I am still a little cautious with sudden movements or loud noises but I am getting more trusting each day and I now crave attention and love from foster meowmy.
6/15/08:
DOUBLE WOW, I was lounging on a chair and foster meowmy came over to give me some petting and I was relaxed enough that she decided to see if I would like some brushing with the zoom groom. She zoom groomed the top of my head and most of my back for about 5 minutes and I loved it!!
5/17/08
WOW, foster meowmy scritched me at the base of my tail and I LOVED it and I was even brave enough to look at her while she did it and then to look away and eat while she continued. I'm so proud of myself!!!!
3/6/08
I've been watching foster meowmy and pawpaw interact with Homer and I've been very, very interested. They pet him gently and zoom groom his head and upper back and he really seems to like it. They never hurt us and they are always gentle and kind when they are in my room. I am working to get my courage up so I can get in on the petting and zoom groom action too. I am still very cautious and am not sure that I want to be touched but I inch closer and closer to my foster parents when they are in my room cleaning and feeding and interacting with the other cats. I got really brave a few times this week and when foster meowmy knelt down and slowly offered her hand for me to sniff, I walked right up to her and cautiously sniffed her hand and briefly touched my nose to the tip of her finger. I wasn't sure about that, so I quickly took a few steps back and took a really hard long look at her to see what she would do and she didn't do anything scary, so I think I'm going to try this again! She told me that she would love to pet me but that she will respect my caution and will let me tell her when I'm ready for that. I'm so proud of myself, it may not seem like a lot to you folks reading this but I was SO scared when I came that I was frozen with fear whenever a human came into my room and if anyone got closer than a few feet I growled and hissed and shrunk back with fear, so me approaching foster meowmy and touching my nose to her fingertip is HUGE progress for me! Check back for updates on me as I continue to learn how to trust.
10/28/07:
I arrived in my foster home at the end of October. I was part of the big Pahrump, NV hoarding case and was transferred to Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue from Best Friends Animal Society. I'm really scared and I need lots of TLC, time, patience and socialzation so I'm not available for adoption yet. Check back for updates as I make progress in trusting humans and allowing touching/handling.

SPONSORS NEEDED
Aurora, Noki, Elf, Sandy Kat, Homer, Rabbit and Solo were all part of a huge hoarding case called The Big Kitty Rescue in Pahrump, NV. Best Friends Animal Society was called in by local officials to document conditions, provide care for the cats and to help get the cats out to rescues and homes. Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue offered to take take some of the cats from this situation, so on Sunday, October 28th, these kitties arrived at RMSR along with a few from the Sanctuary as well (Princess, Boo, Amy, Jo and Meg) to start a new phase of their lives here at our rescue where they will stay until a home is found for them. All arriving cats were seen by a vet within a few days of arriving and our vets have been following up on them as needed. The 7 that came from the hoarding case have gastrointestinal issues (vomiting and diarrhea) as well as some other issues we are working on with them. Because of this, they have required quite a bit in the way of vet care, tests, medications, cat litter and special foods as well as lots of cleaning supplies to clean up the daily messes. At this time, they are on Hill's Prescription Diet Z/D dry and canned food to try to calm their intestinal tracts. Due to their need for extensive vet care and prescription food, we are looking for sponsors to assist with the costs of their care while in our rescue program. As many of you may know, RMSR is a newer non-profit formed in 2004 and as is the case with most non-profits, we have limited resources. If you'd like to donate funds to help with their care or to send some of their RX food or to donate to The Tornado Fund, our fund for special needs cats in our program, you can reach us at CoSrc@SiameseRescue.org.

SOLO
UPDATE 9/10/08:
I had made enough progress in handling that on 6/22, I was transferred to a new foster home with less foster kitties so I could start phase 2 of socialization 101. I've had my new foster Meowmy for a few months now, and I have made a little bit of progress. I have my own room that I'm sharing with another Pahrump foster (Rabbit) right now and I'm fine out and about in the room with just her, but when my foster Meowmy comes in, I run under the furniture and hide. However, I no longer tuck myself in the farthest corner anymore like I did when I first got here I will lay within touching distance, and let my foster Meowmy put her hand next to me. But I don't much like it if she gets that hand too close, and will move away. I have let her pet me with a wand (but I'm not too thrilled with that). I'm OK with her getting pretty close if she gives me treats, but I won't eat them until she moves off.
When I first got here, my foster Meowmy never saw more than the tip of my tail as I was disappearing under the furniture, but now I'll actually pause and look back at her before hiding. So like, I said before, I've made a little progress but I'm still working on that socialization thing.

Check back for updates as I make progress in trusting humans and allowing touching/handling.

UPDATE 8/12/08:
I've made a LOT of progress since my last update. I am starting to trust foster meowmy more and more and I now let her pet me on my back and the back of my head and I come back for more over and over. I am still very cautious and I don't like to have a hand coming toward my face but I have started to realize how nice it feels to be petted and to hear praise. I now seek foster meowmy out when she visits and the more petting I get the more comfortable I feel. I like to rub all around foster meowmy's legs when she is standing still and I've started to vocalize a little too. Foster meowmy says she is so proud of me!!
UPDATE 12/12/07:
I'm making progress slowly. When I first arrived, I hid all the time and hissed and hissed if anyone came into my room. I'm now comfortable enough to be out and about in my room and to eat and use the litterbox while I have company and I've stopped hissing. I am really watching everything the humans do and I am especially interested in seeing how Homer interacts with them and I think it's making me feel a little braver around people. Now that I'm out and about in my foster room and feeling a little more comfortable, I like to slink past one of the other kitties in my room and lean in and headbutt and lean my body on them as we pass :).

RABBIT
UPDATE 3/13/09:
I am a sweetie, but I am still a little shy/scared sometimes (mostly when I encounter something I'm not familiar with). I like to sit next to foster meowmy or between her legs (but not in her lap yet) and get my head/ears/neck/body rubbed. I love to play chase with feathers (my favorite) or chase balls I can be very playful. I don't like to be carried very much, but will stay quiet when foster meowmy is holding me securely to move me from point A to point B. I'm now great with getting my toenails trimmed and I have great litter box habits. Foster meowmy says I am not picky about what food I eat at all.
I get along with other cats as long as I can be the alpha (so I don't always get along with the resident cats who have already established their own household hierarchy in my foster home).
UPDATE 9/10/08:
I had made enough progress in handling that on 6/22, I was transferred to a new foster home with less foster kitties so I could start phase 2 of socialization 101. I've had my new foster Meowmy for a few months now, and I have made great progress already. I no longer run and hide if something startles me (except for the vacuum!), and when my foster Meowmy sits on the floor with me, I like to cuddle up against her or sit between her legs for head and body rubs. Plus I've let my Foster Meowmy trim my toenails a few times already, so I'm sort of getting used to being handled more but I'm not a lap cat yet. I just dont much care to be held for much more than a few minutes at a time. Me and my foster Meowmy are working on that. And I really love to play with anything that has feathers - give me feathers and I'll chase them around for as long as you will play with me.
I have my own room right now that I'm sharing with another foster from Pahrump (Solo), and I'm just fine here since I've gotten used to it (which only took me about a day). But when I'm introduced to new situations (like going outside of my room), I still have a tendency to hide, and it takes me a little while to come out. So I still have a few shyness issues. And by the way, my new foster Meowmy thinks that my pictures don't do me justice. She thinks I'm just gorgeous, and a real sweetie.
UPDATE 12/12/07:
Foster Meowmy says I'm making lots of progress! I adore playing and I adore canned food and it really motiivates me to come down from the safety of the cat tree and join the other kitties and people in the room. I still get nervous and dart back to the cat tree if I'm unsure of something but I'm spending more and more time on the floor talking and asking for canned food and asking for petting.
10/28/07:
My name is Rabbit and I just arrived in my foster home at the end of October. I was part of the big Pahrump, NV hoarding case and was transferred to Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue from Best Friends Animal Society. I was really scared when I arrived. I hid and tried my best to just disappear. I am currently bunking with Princess, Boo and Solo.
Now that I've had a little time to settle in, I've realized that my foster family doesn't want to hurt me and I'm becoming much braver. I still hide when they first enter my room but after watching for a few minutes I come out on a middle perch of one of the cat trees for a closer look. If they move slowly and offer a hand slowly, I usually sniff it and then offer my ear or head for a little pet. I show my appreciation with eye blinkies and I sometimes do head and shoulder rolls. I am still very cautious and if anyone moves too fast I'll retreat or do a little swipe at them to let them know that I'm scared.
Foster Meowmy brings in a wand toy with a long feathery thing and I ADORE playing. I almost forget my fear when I'm leaping and grabbing at the toy. Foster Meowmy says to tell you that I am BEAUTIFUL and that my current picture doesn't do me justice. She says I look like a dilute calco mixed with a lynx point along with a manx tail and beautiful blue eyes.
I am all ready to go home medically. At this time my foster family thinks I would do best in a quiet home that has the time and willingness to work with me and to give me lots of time to come out of my shell. No one knows just what I've been through in my time at the compound where the hoarding was being done but they do know that the experience has left deep emotional scars and that it will take time, love and patience to help me heal.

AURORA
UPDATE 9/24/09:
I took a big leap of faith this week! I have been hanging out on my foster meowmie's bed, and even slept at her feet Monday night. Charley's getting more used to me, but he still hisses at me a little when I get too close. He does share the bed with me, though. I'm very grateful because it is much more comfortable and warmer than the cat tree. I also come to the food dish while my foster meowmie's filling it for me. I'm still somewhat cautious, but if you have the patience to work with me and allow me to grow on you at my pace, please ask about me!
UPDATE 8/17/09:
I'm getting used to the structure here at my new foster home. I no longer hide in the kitty condo, but sit in front of the window on the cedar chest, or on top of the condo. I don't run and hide when my foster meowmie comes into the bedroom, or when she walks around. She talks to me all the time to let me know what she's going to do and tells me it's OK so I won't get nervous. She was very proud of me this morning as I let her walk right by me when she needed to get something from the dresser. I was eating when she told me it was OK, so I just continued to eat. She sits and just talks to me everyday without trying to touch me, and I'm really liking that. Maybe I'll surprise her soon and talk to her. That would just make her day!
UPDATE 5/9/09
I was transferred to a new foster home today where I'll have a human all to myself so I can have intensive work on "humans are great 101". I'm still really fearful of people but I'm making slow progress.
UPDATE 5/17/08
I'm still very cautious around people as I'm fearful but I will now let foster meowmy pet me on my back as long as I'm faced away from her and can hide my head. She tells me how proud she is of me and I like that. I'm going to keep trying, I really want love and affection, I'm just scared.
UPDATE 12/12/07:
I'm making progress slowly. When I first arrived, I hid all the time and hissed and hissed if anyone came into my room. I'm now comfortable enough to be out and about in my room and to eat and use the litterbox while I have company and I've stopped hissing.

REESE
I'm Reese, a 3 years, 3 months old, gorgeous balinese. I've had a rough start in life, spending my days raising kittens and fighting the elements. However, a nice person called rescue because she could tell that I was a princess just needing a place to lounge. Since I've been inside, I've gained weight and started enjoying the finer things in life. At arrival, the vet thought I might be pregnant but it was determined that I am not. I'm affectionate and sweet and I seek attention often. I do have a habit of giving little love nips (not rough enough to break skin) if someone moves too fast and scares me, so I'd do best with children 5 and older. (I currently do Ok with the 4 and 5 year old children in my foster family, but they are unsure about my love bites and mostly keep their distance from me). I do well with other cats and I would be happy going to a home with other cats as companions or as your one and only kitty, so I should be easy to integrate into most any home. I've been spayed and am ready to go home! Foster Meowmy says to tell you that I am beautiful and that my picture doesn't do me justice.

WENDY
Wendy, a 1 year and 5 month old siamese mix darling! I've had a rough start in life, fighting the elements and already raising my own kittens (Peter Pan and Tinkerbell). However, a neighbor knew that I'd be better off spayed and inside and called siamese rescue. At entry to rescue, the vet thought I might be pregnant with another litter but it ends up I am not. I can be nervous when I first get to know you, but then I quickly figure out that you're not going to hurt me and I come by for some love. I do well with other cats. I'm looking forward to a nice cozy life inside this winter. Please consider me!

| Foster Notes for Piper [CO0286] |
| We don't know what Piper went through before she went to the shelter, where she was very scared and depressed for a month before rescue was called, but her sweetness, gentleness and affection once she feels secure and loved are well worth the time and patience to help her settle in. Piper is a very sweet and gentle natured girl. |

PIPER
My name is Piper and I am a beautiful 4 year, 4 month old Blue Point lady. I am very affectionate and just love being petted and loved on and I show my appreciation by headbutting and purring. I need a calm, quiet home with a person who has time and patience to help me adjust and feel secure in a new home as I am shy at first with change or new people. When I first arrived in my foster home, I felt unsafe and scared around the other cats in my foster home but once I settled in and figured out they were not going to hurt me I was fine with them. I would be fine in a home with another cat who is not alpha and will let her me have my own space and not hassle me. I would also do fine as the only cat in the home if you want just one. I"m so sweet, won't you take me home?
