CHARLEY
I love to stretch out around the house - on the floor, counters, tables - any place that has enough space for me. I'm really getting more comfortable with the goings on around here, but I'm still a little skittish at times. Although I don't run and hide anymore, I do make sure that I know where you're at in the room so that I don't get too close. Foster meowmy is still working with me by giving me more brushings and picks me up for short periods of time (when I'd rather be eating!) to give me lots of love. If you have a lot of patience and would be interested in continuing to work with me, please let my foster meowmy know. Luv Charley

ABIGAIL
Boy, do I love my people! I am a teaser, so having another kitty to play with, or someone who can give me lots of attention would be greatly appreciated. I have lots of energy, love to ham it up for the attention, and will make you laugh! I enjoy sneaking around and finding new places to explore, things to get in to, and things to jump on. I love to be up high! So, if you have a tall cat tree or other suitable item that I can climb up to watch the goings on and to play hide-and-seek, fill out your application and ask about me, CO-0120! P.S. These pictures do not do me justice. I have a lot of orange and am a beautiful kitty - if I say so myself. :)

AURORA
UPDATE 5/17/08
I'm still very cautious around people as I'm fearful but I will now let foster meowmy pet me on my back as long as I'm faced away from her and can hide my head. She tells me how proud she is of me and I like that. I'm going to keep trying, I really want love and affection, I'm just scared.
UPDATE 12/12/07:
I'm making progress slowly. When I first arrived, I hid all the time and hissed and hissed if anyone came into my room. I'm now comfortable enough to be out and about in my room and to eat and use the litterbox while I have company and I've stopped hissing.
10/28/07:
I just arrived in my foster home at the end of October. I was part of the big Pahrump, NV hoarding case and was transferred to Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue from Best Friends Animal Society. I'm really scared and I need lots of TLC, time, patience and socialzation so I'm not available for adoption yet. Check back for updates as I make progress in trusting humans and allowing touching/handling.

SPONSORS NEEDED
Aurora, Noki, Elf, Sandy Kat, Homer, Rabbit and Solo were all part of a huge hoarding case called The Big Kitty Rescue in Pahrump, NV. Best Friends Animal Society was called in by local officials to document conditions, provide care for the cats and to help get the cats out to rescues and homes. Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue offered to take take some of the cats from this situation, so on Sunday, October 28th, these kitties arrived at RMSR along with a few from the Sanctuary as well (Princess, Boo, Amy, Jo and Meg) to start a new phase of their lives here at our rescue where they will stay until a home is found for them. All arriving cats were seen by a vet within a few days of arriving and our vets have been following up on them as needed. The 7 that came from the hoarding case have gastrointestinal issues (vomiting and diarrhea) as well as some other issues we are working on with them. Because of this, they have required quite a bit in the way of vet care, tests, medications, cat litter and special foods as well as lots of cleaning supplies to clean up the daily messes. At this time, they are on Hill's Prescription Diet Z/D dry and canned food to try to calm their intestinal tracts. Due to their need for extensive vet care and prescription food, we are looking for sponsors to assist with the costs of their care while in our rescue program. As many of you may know, RMSR is a newer non-profit formed in 2004 and as is the case with most non-profits, we have limited resources. If you'd like to donate funds to help with their care or to send some of their RX food or to donate to The Tornado Fund, our fund for special needs cats in our program, you can reach us at CoSrc@SiameseRescue.org.

UPDATE 8/12/08:
I've made a LOT of progress since my last update. I am starting to trust foster meowmy more and more and I now let her pet me on my back and the back of my head and I come back for more over and over. I am still very cautious and I don't like to have a hand coming toward my face but I have started to realize how nice it feels to be petted and to hear praise. I now seek foster meowmy out when she visits and the more petting I get the more comfortable I feel. I like to rub all around foster meowmy's legs when she is standing still and I've started to vocalize a little too. Foster meowmy says she is so proud of me!!
UPDATE 12/12/07:

I'm now comfortable enough to be out and about in my room and to eat and use the litterbox while I have company and I've stopped hissing. I am really watching everything the humans do and I am especially interested in seeing how Homer interacts with them and I think it's making me feel a little braver around people. Now that I'm out and about in my foster room and feeling a little more comfortable, I like to slink past one of the other kitties in my room and lean in and headbutt and lean my body on them as we pass :).

UPDATE 8/12/08
I was in to see the vet for a check up and to have a blood panel to check my thyroid levels and everything looks good. I will go back for another check of my thyroid levels in January and if they still look good then the radioactive iodine procedure will be considered a success. My levels are good so I don't require any thyroid medication. I am still a little snuffly so I was put on a new antibiotic for that as the vet suspects that I still have some uncleared infection remaining from the horrible dental/sinus issues I had. I am eating well and have gained back the weight I had lost prior to my surgery and I'm looking good and feeling good. I am affectionate and can't get enough petting. I am ready for my new home, when are you coming to get me??
UPDATE 7/19/08
I had the radioactive iodine procedure on the 14th and I returned to my foster home on the 17th. I am eating and appear to be doing well. We won't know for sure if the procedure worked until I go in approximately 1 month post procedure for bloodwork to check my thyroid levels but its probable that it worked because its a 96% projected success rate so keep fingers and toes crossed!
UPDATE 7/11/08
I'm doing really well. I'm now off of antibiotics and my infection is cleared up and my mouth has healed. My thyroid meds are regulated. I am eating well, have gained weight and am looking good. I'm now medically cleared to go have the radioactive iodine treatment for my hyperthyroidism. I'm scheduled to have that on 7/14 and I'll then stay at the vets for afew days and I'll come home on 7/17. I'll need to be isolated for about 2 weeks after I come home. My procedure will be performed by Dr. Worth at Veterinary Radiological Specialists of the Rockies in Englewood, CO (http://www.catiodine.com) and they have very generously offered to give RMSR a huge discount on the procedure. The procedure normally runs $1050.00 but they are going to do it for me for $400, isn't that wonderful!!!! Check back for updates once I've had the procedure and am back in my foster home.
UPDATE 6/11/08
I came home with a pain patch, oral pain medication, antibiotics, thyroid medication and RX A/D food on 5/24/08. Because I need medication several times a day and because how much and what I eat needs to be monitored and controlled, I am bunking in a kitty kennel until I'm done with my antibiotics. Don't worry, it's not a little kennel, it's a large ferret cage with 2 shelves for me to lounge on, so I have all of the creature comforts and I really don't mind at all. Plus, all my buddies are in the room with me and they come to visit and keep me company. I am healing up well and I'm still snuffly but not as snuffly as I was before my surgery and medications. The vet wants me to be on the antibiotics for 6 weeks and then I'll go back in for a check up to see if she thinks I need to be on more antibiotics or whether this round has cleared everything up. I'll also have a blood workup to make sure the thyroid medication I'm now on is at the right dosage for me. Foster meowmy can tell just by looking at me that I've gained weight and that I feel so much better. I'm much more affectionate now and just want lots of petting and loving too. Foster meowmy says that anyone who meets me now would have a hard time imagining how grumpy and wild I could get with handling when I first arrived. She says I'm a new man!!! Once I'm all healed from my surgery and my infection is gone then RMSR will consult with a speciallist in radioactive iodine treatment to see if I am a candidate for that procedure as that would take away my need for thyroid medication twice a day for the rest of my life. This procedure runs a little over $1,000 so we'll be fundraising to help with the cost of that procedure as well as the cost of the treatment and care I have received to date. RMSR is seeking sponsors to help with my care so please consider donating. The tests, surgery and medication I had on 5/21 was over $2000 and I've been on expensive RX food most of the time in the program, so quite a bit has been spent on my food and care.
UPDATE 5/21/08
I was cooperative getting in the carrier and I rode in the car to the vet's office. Once there, I was anesthesized and a full workup was done on me. It was found that I am hyperthyroid so I'll start on medication to regulate my thyroid. I was also found to have stomatitis with oral-nasal fistulas that required extensive surgery. The bone between the mouth and sinus cavity had been completely eaten away by infection and my sinus cavity was full of infection. 38 teeth were extracted (I now have 2 lower canines remaining), a biopsy of my gums was taken, my sinuses were flushed and a culture was taken. Needless to say, I was feeling pretty rotten after all of this, so the plan is for me to stay at the vet's office for a few days and then once I'm eating and my pain is more managed, I'll come home.
UPDATE 5/17/08
Foster meowmy has been working with me and I now feel comfortable enough that I allow her to pick me up and put me over her shoulder for some petting. I don't like to stay up like that for long but I'm getting more and more comfortable with being picked up. Aren't you proud of me, I've made a lot of progress in trusting since I've arrived! I am still very snuffly even though I've been on various medications and I am losing weight. Up until now, I've had a house call vet coming to see me. Now that foster meowmy can handle me consistently, she is going to take me to the vet's office in a few days where they'll be able to examine me much better. They will anesthesize me and then they'll do bloodwork, a urinalysis, a full body exam and my mouth will be examined as it is suspected that I have some major dental issues going on but in the past my mouth could not be examined well. If the vet feels it is needed, they will also do a nasal/sinus flush and they'll send a sample off to the lab to see what is affecting my sinuses.
UPDATE 12/12/07:
I'm making progress. When I first arrived, I hid a lot of the time and hissed if anyone came too close. I'm now comfortable enough to be out and about in my room all the time and to eat and use the litterbox while I have company. I've stopped hissing and I'm even starting to come to Foster Meowmy for some ear/head scritches and I am now allowing Foster Meowmy to gently run a zoom groom on the top of my head and the upper part of my back. I am still very cautious of movement and hands but I'm starting to trust people and I'm starting to seek them out when they are in my room.

NOKI
UPDATE 8/12/08
I've made huge strides in the last 2 months. i love being petted and praised and I usually come running for some petting and attention whenever foster meowmy is near now and I even come when she calls me by name now. I am getting more and more comfortable with petting. I let foster meowmy pet me on my back, sides and head and scritch under my chin and sides of my neck and guess what, I have started purring for her and in the last week I have started smelling and licking her fingers and then I gently gnaw on her fingers to let her know how much I like and trust her now. I am still a little cautious with sudden movements or loud noises but I am getting more trusting each day and I now crave attention and love from foster meowmy.
6/15/08:
DOUBLE WOW, I was lounging on a chair and foster meowmy came over to give me some petting and I was relaxed enough that she decided to see if I would like some brushing with the zoom groom. She zoom groomed the top of my head and most of my back for about 5 minutes and I loved it!!
5/17/08
WOW, foster meowmy scritched me at the base of my tail and I LOVED it and I was even brave enough to look at her while she did it and then to look away and eat while she continued. I'm so proud of myself!!!!
3/6/08
I've been watching foster meowmy and pawpaw interact with Homer and I've been very, very interested. They pet him gently and zoom groom his head and upper back and he really seems to like it. They never hurt us and they are always gentle and kind when they are in my room. I am working to get my courage up so I can get in on the petting and zoom groom action too. I am still very cautious and am not sure that I want to be touched but I inch closer and closer to my foster parents when they are in my room cleaning and feeding and interacting with the other cats. I got really brave a few times this week and when foster meowmy knelt down and slowly offered her hand for me to sniff, I walked right up to her and cautiously sniffed her hand and briefly touched my nose to the tip of her finger. I wasn't sure about that, so I quickly took a few steps back and took a really hard long look at her to see what she would do and she didn't do anything scary, so I think I'm going to try this again! She told me that she would love to pet me but that she will respect my caution and will let me tell her when I'm ready for that. I'm so proud of myself, it may not seem like a lot to you folks reading this but I was SO scared when I came that I was frozen with fear whenever a human came into my room and if anyone got closer than a few feet I growled and hissed and shrunk back with fear, so me approaching foster meowmy and touching my nose to her fingertip is HUGE progress for me! Check back for updates on me as I continue to learn how to trust.

PRINCESS
My name is Princess and I'm a pretty, petite 2 year old Lynx Point Balinese (long haired Siamese) with white front paws and a partial tail (foster meowmy thinks I may have lost a portion of my tail in some sort of accident). I arrived in my foster home from Best Friends Animal Society at the end of October. I am sweet and loving with people and come right away for attention. I like to help do everything you are doing, so if you're near me, I'll probably be right there helping! I have been fostered with a few other cats since arriving at my foster home and at first I did OK but as I started to feel better and better, the more unhappy I became about sharing my space and food with other cats. I would be happiest and do best as your one and only and I promise to shower you with enough kitty love that one kitty will be all you need :)!
I'm all ready to go home now. I had a URI (kitty cold) and a really bad eye infection and ulcer and the vet thought I might lose my eye. My foster family worked with the vet to get my eye healed up which involved administration of several kinds of drops and ointments several times a day. I didn't enjoy all of the eye exams and medications but I let foster meowmy adminster them with just a wiggle here and there to gently register my protest. I also arrived with my coat very matted so the bad matts had to be shaved off, so I have a funny hair cut right now but that's OK, it's growing back and it feels so much better not to have all of those painful matts!
I'm cute and sweet and would make your home complete! Every home should have a Princess, am I yours?

RABBIT
My name is Rabbit and I just arrived in my foster home at the end of October. I was part of the big Pahrump, NV hoarding case and was transferred to Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue from Best Friends Animal Society. I was really scared when I arrived. I hid and tried my best to just disappear. I am currently bunking with Princess, Boo and Solo.
Now that I've had a little time to settle in, I've realized that my foster family doesn't want to hurt me and I'm becoming much braver. I still hide when they first enter my room but after watching for a few minutes I come out on a middle perch of one of the cat trees for a closer look. If they move slowly and offer a hand slowly, I usually sniff it and then offer my ear or head for a little pet. I show my appreciation with eye blinkies and I sometimes do head and shoulder rolls. I am still very cautious and if anyone moves too fast I'll retreat or do a little swipe at them to let them know that I'm scared.
Foster Meowmy brings in a wand toy with a long feathery thing and I ADORE playing. I almost forget my fear when I'm leaping and grabbing at the toy. Foster Meowmy says to tell you that I am BEAUTIFUL and that my current picture doesn't do me justice. She says I look like a dilute calco mixed with a lynx point along with a manx tail and beautiful blue eyes.
I am all ready to go home medically. At this time my foster family thinks I would do best in a quiet home that has the time and willingness to work with me and to give me lots of time to come out of my shell. No one knows just what I've been through in my time at the compound where the hoarding was being done but they do know that the experience has left deep emotional scars and that it will take time, love and patience to help me heal.
UPDATE 12/12/07:
Foster Meowmy says I'm making lots of progress! I adore playing and I adore canned food and it really motiivates me to come down from the safety of the cat tree and join the other kitties and people in the room. I still get nervous and dart back to the cat tree if I'm unsure of something but I'm spending more and more time on the floor talking and asking for canned food and asking for petting.
