**PLEASE NOTE: IF A CAT IS SHOWING ON OUR "SIAMESE AVAILABLE" PAGE, THEY ARE AVAILABLE TO ADOPT! We update the page immediately if a cat goes on pending or adopted status.**

Please read the following carefully as it fully explains the Adoption Process.

Adoption fees for the Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue are $125 for kittens up to 1 Year of age and $100 for cats 1 Year and up and include all of the vet work as listed below. Under certain circumstances, we may offer a reduced adoption fee. All of our cats are spayed or neutered prior to placement.

Click here to review our Adoption Policies.
We believe in providing each cat with the following vet work prior to placement.
Such vet work includes (average cost):
  • Blood tests for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids - $40
  • Spaying or Neutering - $65-$150
  • Thorough Vet Exam - $25 - $55
  • Vaccines (as required) - $25 - $40
  • Treatment for fleas, earmites and worms - $25
  • Presurgical blood work where necessary, and dentals for older cats $100-$300
As you can see, the adoption fee covers only a portion of the per cat cost. While we make a substantial effort to ensure the cats are healthy prior to placement, please understand that these are Rescue Cats from unknown backgrounds, and you need to be prepared for possible medical and/or behavioral issues that may arise after an adoption.

Interested adopters go through a careful screening process to include reference checks, telephone interviews, and where appropriate, home visits. Cats may not be placed on hold until you have completed the application process and have been approved to adopt. The adoptive owners agree to give Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue the option of reclaiming the cat, should the adoption not work to the advantage of the new owner and the cat. Because our cats are housed in foster homes, cats may be visited by approved applicants by appointment only.

To begin the Adoption process, complete these simple steps:
  1. Review the Adoption Policies. They differ slightly for each Center, so it's a good idea to review them. View a summary of our Adoption Policies.

  2. Complete BOTH the Adoption and Vet Reference Forms in full, and send them, along with a non-refundable $10.00 processing fee. Please do not send cash! NOTE: Please make sure you have enough postage - any mail sent with insufficient postage will be returned to you. While we realize you may be anxious to begin the process, please do not send any expedited mail or "signature required" mail - this is a post office box, and we won't get it any quicker if you send it expedited. In fact, it may delay your application since we normally pick up mail after the post office has closed. The application and processing fee must be MAILED. Faxed or incomplete applications will not be processed. Please mail your applications to:

    Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue
    Attn: Adoptions
    P.O. Box 336563
    Greeley, CO 80633

  3. We will notify you via email (if you have it) once your application has been received. Our preferred first choice of contact is email - it takes less manpower, is less expensive and is easiest for us to handle. Our first attempt to contact your references will be via email. The quicker we get a response, the quicker we can process your application. Please be sure to notify the people you list as references that we will be contacting them via email or phone - they need to check their email or voice messages and respond so that we may continue to process your application! After the references and vet checks have been completed, you will then be contacted by a designated Rescue Center representative for an interview.

  4. Once the interview is complete, and approval has been received, we will then discuss the specifics of the cat you are interested in. We work very hard to ensure we match each cat with the right situation, as evidenced by our successful placement rate!
(NOTE: While basic reference checks are sometimes completed in 3-5 days, the adoption approval process can take up to two weeks depending on response time from personal references, vets, and other requirements. We are volunteers, but you can be assured we are working as hard as we can to process your application as quickly as we can.)

You can view a PDF Acrobat flow chart of the Application Process HERE

  5. Once the approval process is completed and a Siamese has been selected, this is when you would start to make arrangements to pick up your new Meezer. Rocky Mountain Siamese Rescue does not ship cats by air in cargo. Applicants from out of area must be willing to fly in to pick up the cat at their expense and carry it onboard with them for the trip home.

  6. If your check is returned for insufficent funds by our bank, you will be charged a $20 returned check fee, the fees the bank charges us for resubmission fees (which vary according to bank), and the original $10 application fee before we will begin to process your application. If your application is already being processed, processing will stop. If you are already approved, the approval will be withdrawn. Please understand that we are a non-profit organization and all of the money goes toward rescuing cats. When we are charged bank fees for bounced checks, it directly and adversely affects our ability to rescue more cats.
